Our View on Equality

Our world is suffering from a devastating, debilitating pandemic, and I’m not talking about COVID-19. This pandemic has been going on for years, decades, centuries, and cuts right to the heart of our humanity. When a person of privilege or authority categorizes a group of people based on their race, gender or heritage, and treats this group unfavorably as compared to others, this is racism. And this is intolerable.

It’s impossible to ignore what’s happening in the world around us. Our society has proved it is not as enlightened as we like to believe it is. Racism, discrimination, and hatred rear their disgusting heads all too often. External pressures like COVID-19 and the related economic disaster can spur these unhealthy attitudes into destructive and tragic actions.

We can, and must, be better than this.
